Quite often in our therapy practice we fail to focus on our niche.
What I mean by that is that although many of us use different approaches in the dealings with our clients such as CBT, Solution Focused, Jungarian, EMDR etc, trying to rank well in the search engines such as Google and Yahoo for all those terms is extremely difficult. Not impossible, but very very difficult.
And even if you were to rank for any of those terms it is unlikely that the majority of your prospective clients will be searching for those terms. Instead, they will be searching for New York Therapists, NY Therapists or maybe Therapist in NY. Therefore if you are going to attract people searching using these phrases, your website or blog should reflect this by providing content and pages with headings using these terms.
For example, you could create a blog post that was titled Therapists New York (like this one even) and describe what to expect from a therapist but pepper the blog post with references to the different areas of New York such as The Bronx Therapists, Manhattan therapist , Brooklyn marriage therapist, Queens counselor and Staten Island psychologist and many more. I’m sure you get the idea.
If you were to create a new blog post every week for the next 4 weeks and you promoted and published them well, then your blog would be much more visible.
Have a go and let me know how you went on.

Hi,
Thanks again for the video. I wonder if you could elaborate on “promoted and published them well…” I was just exploring this idea yesterday and this morning. I was unhappy with the exposure the blog was getting. I googled around and found this site: http://www.ranks.nl/tools/spider.html
and used that to tune up my keywords and something I had previously never heard of: “keyword density.”
If you have any hints on how to further promote the websites, blogs, I’d be ever grateful. Digging around on google is productive but quite time consuming.
Thanks,

Gary,
Thanks for this tip. While I have been using a blog regarding addressing my niche, I’ve neglected to think about using keywords (light coming on).
I have created an ebook that clients can access for free. Check it out – http://www.relationshipcrisis.com/Ebook_CC.pdf
I find that ebooks are changing from just a book delivered electronically to a separate medium.
Hi Gary,
As always, thank you for your tips and help! I will be starting a blog at the beginning of the year.
Looking forward to more of your emails.
Thanks again.
