Depressed people are usually very highly aroused.
Getting them to think can be an arduous task in it self.
It is necessary to get the patient to calm down and relax before any kind of therapeutic work can be administered effectively.
Relaxation therapy, helping the patient to concentrate on their breathing, is an appropriate intervention.
